My name is Fernando Gajate. I am a retired captain from the Broward Sheriff’s Office (thirty-one years of service) and a Forensic Artist. Forensic Art is defined as any artistic renderings/works that can be used in a judicial process or legal proceeding. This includes, but is not limited to composite sketches of suspects, age progression images (fugitives, missing persons), post-mortem sketches/renderings, two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) reconstructions of unidentified persons, image enhancements, and other renderings used to assist in criminal justice proceedings. I am, and will always be, committed to law enforcement and to assisting in the prosecutorial process and assisting my community. That said, I have chosen to start my own business as a Forensic Artist, as I believe that forensic art is an amazing tool in the law enforcement arsenal to assist in identifying suspects, missing persons/fugitives and unidentified decedents.
I am a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Facial Imaging Course and certified Forensic Artist by the International Association for Identification (one of fifteen forensic artists currently certified by the organization). I am the former Chair of the Forensic Art Science and Protocol Subcommittee for the International Association for Identification.
